UCLA Hip Hop / Street Dance Summer Institute

Through a unique partnership with UCLA Summer Sessions and the UCLA World Arts and Cultures/Dance Department, Versa-Style: Performance Education Community provides a valuable opportunity for artistically inclined students to access a special, award-winning seven-day dance intensive where 40+ students from Los Angeles and beyond are brought together for daily technique classes in forms such as Popping, Locking, Hip Hop, House and dances from the Latin and African diasporas.

The program also offers a range of lessons in spoken word/poetry/rap, Hip Hop and street dance history, college readiness and opportunities for discussion, critical thinking and bridging difference using art as a tool for individual and community growth.

Students return to their dorm each evening and participate in fun and engaging activities hosted by Program Counselors who are all undergraduate UCLA Dance majors. This provides students with the opportunity to form important community bonds and experience what it’s like to live in a college dormitory.
